Overflow Like a River
We have an interesting story in the book of Acts where the people all around Jerusalem, started laying their sick, diseased and injured people on the paths and next to the roads where Peter the Apostle would walk past. Hoping that even his shadow might touch them and heal them.
Act 5:15 So as to carry out the sick into the streets and place them on cots and mattresses, so that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
Peter must have been walking and carrying something that wasn't normal, there is also a strange verse in John.
Joh 18:6 Then as soon as He had said to them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground.
What happened to them? it says they fell to the ground after He told them who He was, this is not normal either. From just these verses you can see that something was going on outside of the normal reality of existence. Gods presence and power was manifesting Himself on them, with these results occurring.
Once I felt the Lord show me... that He was going to cover the Earth with His Glory, which is very scriptural (so easy to know that was Him right!).
He described this occurring much like the flood in Noah's time, where the waters covered the Earth.
Back then it says it flooded for 40 days and nights but flooded for 150 days... the question is where did the rest of the water come from? and the answer was He opened the fountains of the deep.
God was showing me, he was going to flood the World again, but not with water, but His Spirit, His Glory and that the glory was inside His children.
So how is it going to come out? The fountains of the deep are going to burst again, this time in us, releasing the river of God to flow over the Earth.
Jesus showed stages of this river flowing ever stronger when He first mentions the Holy Spirit in us as a fountain bubbling,
John 4:14 "...but the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life".
Then latter on He says
John 7: 38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
And just so we know what He meant by the rivers of living water, He clarifies it for us.
John 7:39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Not only is there a progression of the flow of the Spirit in people shown here, but it also reveals that His ministry of baptising people in the Spirit was a Heavenly ministry, meant for the Heavenly born!
John the Baptist was using water, from the Earth to represent the new birth, and he said I baptise with water but He is going to baptise you with fire and the Holy Spirit.
Christians are ones who have been born from Heaven, and therefore receive a Heavenly baptism... not just the Earthly one.
Jesus did not baptise people with fire when on Earth, that was part of His Heavenly ministry... which has not stopped.
The confusion is has come from not understanding what the new creation man is: He is a new creation not the same man or a restored one like Adam. That’s why Jesus said He who is born again in the Kingdom is greater than John the Baptist the greatest born of women.
The new creation man, walks both the Earth and the Heavens now, not just when they die.
Being called a Christian means your identifying yourself as one who has been anointed like Christ was at His baptism, where the Dove descended upon Him and anointed Him. He was already filled with the Holy Spirit before this remember.
Jesus say "... come to Me and drink.
He says this just before saying "... out his heart will flow rivers of living water."
There is a key here to progressing from being a bubbling fountain to a flowing river in the Spirit and that is drinking. Importantly He says first of all "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me..." we must be thirsty first.... this surely is what the conversation with the women at the well was all about, He said if you knew what I could give you to drink you would be asking me for living water....
He was explaining that we need to be aware of our thirst!
One day I heard a key from a speaker called John Arnott where he spoke about soaking in the presence of God, drinking Him in. He said he practiced this for 2 hours a day...
I went home and started doing it too.. I could already feel the presence of God, so it was easy to tell when it became stronger on me. True enough the more time I spent in the presence of God the stronger the anointing on me became.
In fact it got so strong I couldn't sleep for about 3 days... the presence of God stayed on me and wasn't leaving as well.
At a meeting in Auckland, I became aware of just how strong the presence of God was becoming on me, a man approached in my seat and asked if I wanted prayer, already the presence of God was incredibly strong on me...but I said yes anyway (thirsty) as the person from the prayer ministry team came up to me he stopped, he tried again and again but just couldn't get near me. I just watched and wondered what was happening to him, he explained that he couldn't get near me, that he was blocked by the presence of God!
He finally decided to go around the side of me and try, which worked, he managed to get close enough to put his hand on me, but when he did, he fell the floor, like he was knocked out. (it was the power of God coming off me)
This happened at other times, because I just kept soaking and spending time in Gods presence... people just kept going down when they just touched me!
Wow eh... that’s not the end yet, while I was in church worshipping God started pouring out water (cold) over me, every few seconds... I already had a powerful presence of Him on me but this was extra. Some ladies from the church tried to walk over to me, they got about 3 metres away, then they were just flying backwards, they tried many times to get closer but every time got pushed backwards.
Finally they gave up, one lady said its like buckets of the anointing is being poured over you!
That’s exactly what it felt like too.
I believe the Lord gave me a taste of what Peter and Jesus walked in... and what He wants to do with us.... open the fountains of the deep and let His Glory fill the Earth.
